It’s been a bit of a wait but the new Great Walks in the Lake District is now in production. Presented by Cameron McNeish, the editor of TGO Magazine it tackles one of the most spectacular valley rounds in Lakeland.
The Wasdale Round takes in Buckbarrow and Greendale Tarn, Pillar and Gable. Then by way of Scafell and Scafell Pike to the Wastwater Screes.

The first two days filming struck spectacularly good weather and the programme promises to be the best Great Walks yet.
The finished programme became available on DVD in mid November 2005.

This wonderful walk traverses a litany of well loved and well known mountain names – mountain names – Pillar, Gable, Broad Crag, Scafell Pike, Scafell, Illgill Head and Whin Rigg, and takes the fell-walker on a journey over those Western Fells that cradle the most majestic and dramatic of all English lakes – Wastwater.
I can’t think of a high-level route that is so sustained and eventful in terms of dramatic landscape, from the fabulous Slab and Notch scramble on Pillar Rock to the dark, brooding crags of Scafell. This is a long, mountain walk that encompasses the finest of all the Lake District fells and offers hillwalkers of all abilities a challenge they will cherish for the rest of their lives.
