Ten great walks within three hours of the Commonwealth Games Stadium.

WALK ONE
Rivington Pike
Less than an hour from the stadium you can experience
the world of one of the north west of Englands greatest industrial
entrepreneurs and the solitude of the West Pennine Moors.
Lord Leverhulme, founder of the company that became
Unilever, bought the Rivington estate to build a country retreat.
Rivington Pike stands high above the town of Horwich.
On its slopes Lord Leverhulme laid out a magical terraced garden.
You can still walk through the ruins of it today on your way to
a great view over the Lancashire landscape. But if solitude is what
you want head on from the beacon tower on Rivington Pike towards
the television masts on Winter Hill. There are miles of lonely moorland
to explore.
